Philippine Police authorities recently filed charges against Alo Binago, an “Abu Sufyan sub-commander”, for leading the August 18 on Maasim town in Sarangani province wherein two civilians were allegedly died and several houses destroyed. Recent armed conflict in barangays Bago Libas and Pagangan of Aleosan, Cotabato Province between local group of MILF and government forces flared up unintentionally but as a matter of consequence of confluence of events fueled by sheer unscrupulous interests of bigoted uncanny minds.
This was the more vivid picture drawn up during the fact-finding inquiry conducted yesterday by the Joint Coordinating Committee on the Cessation of Hostilities (CCCH) of the Moro Islamic Liberation Front and Government of the Republic of the Philippines (GRP), International Monitoring Team (IMT) represented by Malaysia and Brunei , Bantay Ceasefire and other civil society organizations.
The inquiry was made after two incidents of skirmishes on July 15, 2008 between local residents who are members of the MILF and civilian volunteers organizations (CVOs) of Aleosan, and an alleged strafing on farmers on July 14, 2008 were contained from blowing out of proportion by the ceasefire pillars.
Some farmers tending their rice paddy were allegedly fired on by unknown armed group in the morning of July 14, 2008 but none was hit. Consequently, the farmers went back home, left their farming tools, took arms and went back to where they were allegedly strafed at to scour the area from the perpetrator(s). |
